Hi everyone, wheewwwww it’s been a week and I’m here to help you gear up for the weekend. What makes me qualified to share this guide to Sunday? I just had a perfect one a few weeks ago.
*Sunday can be swapped for any day you have free and blocked off
Schedule as follows:
*disclaimer - I’m a morning person and also don’t have any humans or animals to take care of so this schedule kind of reflects that. If you are not a morning person, shift the timing by 3+ hours.
7:30am: wake up, brush teeth, splash face with water, put on face cream
7:45am-9am: make a lot of coffee, drink a lot of water (or just more than you thought you would—enough to feel proud of yourself), eat a handful of something protein-y. Nuts/cold cuts/a bite of leftover chicken or steak. *spoiler: we’re eating a meal ~out~ later, so this is an energizing morning snack. Journal or turn inward in another way while you snack and enjoy coffee.
9-10:30am: cross something off your to-do list. Finally bring your now dusty pile of online shopping boxes to UPS to return, buy a new plunger, pick up paper towels or coffee filters, schedule that doctor’s appointment etc.—something in this arena.
10:30am-12pm: treat yourself to something leisurely and weekend-like. Pick up brunch and eat it in the park, sit outside at a cafe with a book with at least one pastry, walk around aimlessly in a different neighborhood, invite a friend to any/all the above if that feels good.
12:30pm: go back home and stay there for the rest of the day. In an ideal world, it will rain the moment you enter the home, but the following holds regardless.
12:30pm-5pm: sit on the couch and watch TV and eat snacks. Hopefully cheese is involved. *bonus points: stop at a Trader Joe’s on the way home to get fresh and exciting snacking material.
5:30pm: make an early dinner. My suggestion? A big salad made up of all your favorite things. Don’t think about it too much. Just chop, crumble, splash, sprinkle, and drop!
And this is my favorite way to assemble one.
The ingredients:
This is a choose your own adventure moment, but I personally think that all categories below must be represented if you want to make a truly delicious and satisfying salad.
*corn is probably my favorite salad ingredient and I have a great tip for making it easily. Use the microwave! Throw corn right on in there with the husk still on, microwave for 5 minutes, and you will have the most perfect corn on earth. Also, gold fish are VERY good on salads.
Right now I’m keeping it very very simple with balsamic and white vinegar. If you wanna feel decadent in this realm, go for a balsamic glaze. I also really love maple syrup + mustard mixtures.
Spend the rest of the evening lounging—maybe with some chocolate or cookies—and get into bed around 9:30pm.
